This dress was hard to shoot... you know how the sun is with white...

I think I actually style filed almost this exact outfit before. Oh well! I do recycle things. I love this dress and when the weather warms up I wear it fairly often to work. Usually just like this.
I love dresses with details like the ruffle and the eyelets. I also like dresses because they're easy. Just put it on and go. No agonizing over what to wear. It's great.
I just got these shoes. They are so tall but actually comfortable. They have a hidden platform so my foot isn't as jacked up, plus they have a thicker heel. I also enjoy the little bows. :)

4-16-12

I would wear this out for date night or to church or to anywhere really. I did wear this outfit on a date night to a concert, but I have also worn this jacket to work. I love the ruffles on it. It's a nice break from a classic blazer.

I love these shoes. I bought them for really cheap at TJ Maxx and I will be surprised if they last until the end of summer, but they sure are fun while they last!

Look at me! Two weeks in a row with my style files! Brad and I have been busy scheming up DIY projects for the new apartment. I have one I'm going to share with you later this week. We actually decided to do it before we decided to move...but it will have a prominent place in the new apartment. I think you will like it. I do.

Thursday Morning Grumpies

Today I have a really bad case of the Thursday Morning Grumpies. It started because the alarm went off. Then the dog promptly started barking to go outside. Then I came back in and didn't have enough coffee ground. Then I found where the dog peed on the floor (for no apparent reason. ugh. If we keep her gated in the bedroom she doesn't do this. But Brad thought maybe she would stop doing it since it's been a while since she did it. No such luck. We cannot trust her!).

But you know what? None of that is actually a reason to be grumpy for the rest of the day. So right this second I am going to decide to have a good day.

I am going to share with you a few things from my pin boards that I have simply been coveting lately:

Ok, so this one isn't from a pinboard. I stole it from my friend's facebook. This is baby Benjamin. He's 2.5 weeks old, and definitely the youngest baby I've ever held. I was a little afraid since littles like that are so squishy and jello-like but he's so sweet.

We are moving in June so I've been trying to find curtains and design inspiration for our new place. We'll have significantly more windows, so I'm hoping to do some of them in Chevron even though it's sort of wildly popular right now.

We will also have a fireplace. Since Brad has asthma, it's probably not a good idea for us to burn actual wood, but it will be fun to make a cozy little "fire" with candles! I'm imagining Christmas time with the stockings hung with care on the mantle, candles lit in the fireplace, hot chocolate, and Charlie Brown Christmas.

Monet is one of my favorites. I hope I get to see some when I go to Paris!

I'm going to be in a wedding in December, so I've been poking around looking at bridesmaid dresses when I get bored. I really liked this one, it reminds me of Audrey Hepburn!

Style File 4-8-12

Hello! I am alive! I've been pretty busy wrapping up my half marathon, then being sick, then having to catch up on everything... But! Here is an outfit post for you! I am in love with this skirt. It is so comfy and so fun. I don't have anything else quite like it in my closet.
I also like my bright cardigan. I have plenty of neutral cardis but I needed one to add some color to my spring wardrobe. This season is all about color! I recently ordered several things from Old Navy. I'm not usually one to shop there, but I am quite impressed with their spring stuff. Just the right price to get a few of the trendy pieces.
It's also warm enough to bust out my sandals again. I love these shoes. One of the better purchases I've made.

I hope your Easter weekend was awesome however you chose to celebrate it. We went to church and then to our small group's gathering to share Easter dinner. I brought a pie and salad, and it was all veryyyyy tasty. :)

5 things

I apologize for the hiatus here. I've been very sick the past couple of days with the Great Stomach Plague of 2012, but I am on the mend. Look forward to a new outfit post on Monday. Until then, I saw one of the bloggers I follow Violet Sage and I thought I would make a list too.

5 Things I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me When I Was 18

1.) It is ok to not now what you want to do even after you graduate college. Sometimes, you never know what the opportunities in life are going to give you. Roll with it and try to find something along the way that you think to yourself "Man, this is what I was made to do!" Sometimes that's using your degree, sometimes it's not. Either way, your college education was not wasted. Just tweaked to fit your dream.

2.) Make it a point to keep up with your friends. No matter how self sufficient you are or how much you think you have everything handled, you need someone you can Skype/call/get coffee with when you're having a rotten week.

3.) There is a big world out there. Go see it as much as you can.

4.) Let's go back to number 1 for a sec. Sometimes your dreams change, and that's ok. I think it's boring if we just go for one dream in our life time. Dream big, do what you're called to do, and eventually the details will work out.

5.) Your family is very important. Don't treat them like they're not.

Style File 3-5-12

Ok, so a couple people have asked me to do a feature on Men's Fashion. I do not claim to be an expert, but I have a couple tips for you in a post featuring my husband, Brad.

Tip 1: Fit is key. Do not be afraid to wear a shirt that fits. Pants should also fit. I like this shirt of Brad's because it fits him well. I also like the pattern of it; it's a break from a solid or stripe.
Tip 2: Don't be afraid of color, patterns, or textures. These all add interest to your wardrobe. And definitely do not be afraid of pinks, purples, or paisleys (even though I am still working on Brad to wear these things...)

Tip 3: Shoes do not always have to match everything perfectly, but you should never wear brown shoes with black pants, nor should you wear socks with sandals.
Tip 4: Chucks go with almost anything.
Tip 5: Wear what you like, no matter what that is!

Jeans- Levi's (no idea where he got them)
Shoes- Green Chucks (no idea where he got them)

Style File 2/27/12

As promised I have an outfit photo to share! yay! I decided to go for something I wore to church. Our Church is pretty casual, as in our pastor preaches in jeans and and nice button down. More Sundays than not, I dress up for Church. It's just one of those things I like to do. Yesterday I felt like being a bit more casual.

I think you have seen these jeans before. I love them; they actually came off a sale rack at target, but they've fast become my go-to skinnies in my closet. I pair them with everything from a tee-shirt, to a sweater and boots. And they're super comfortable, which is always a plus when talking about jeans.
And my nude flats! I don't actually wear these a ton because they can be uncomfortable, but if I'm just running to church and back generally they're ok. They would not be if I were doing a significant amount of walking, but every girl has shoes like that.

Hope you all have a great week! Next week's Style File will be a break from my normal style files, so be looking for it! I think some of the guys out there might appreciate it!
